There’s so much funky, bluesy soul coming out of her, you wonder if her heart beats in syncopated time. The Kansas City-raised daughter of musicians already had a solid blues foundation, but she found that groove — or new variations of it — in New Orleans, where she worked with GRAMMY®-winning producer-guitarist Anders Osborne to craft a number of songs, the first of which are showcased on her solo debut EP for Concord Records, set for release on March 10, 2015. The self-titled EP features four tracks that were recorded in New Orleans with Osborne producing and playing guitar. Stanton Moore holds court behind the drumset, Mike “Shinetop, Jr.” Sedovic plays keyboards and Danielle lays down the basslines while also handling all of the vocals. The last two tracks on the EP were recorded live at Kansas City’s Triple A radio mainstay KTBG-The Bridge 90.9 FM. Danielle sang and played acoustic guitar in their studios doing stripped-down, intimate versions of “You Only Need Me When You’re Down” and Bob Dylan’s classic “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright”. Danielle calls her sound “blues-based roots,” and it’s clear those roots reach deep — straight to the melting-pot heart of American music. She discovered them early, thanks to her parents and her big-band singer/grandmother. When Nicole’s father heard her belting out Koko Taylor’s “Never Trust a Man” at age 12, her destiny became clear.

WolfDen University Horse Racing Point Selection Method Guide: 1. Jockey - 1 point for the 4 jockeys with the highest strike rate riding at the meeting. Strike rates can be found by going to racingandsports.com.au, for free form guide, meeting info, jockeys statistics, then click on each individual jockey riding at that meeting. The jockey must have had 250+ historical rides to qualify. 2. Speed Map - 1 point awarded for leader, then 1 point awarded for pace, then 1 point awarded for off pace. A maximum of 4 horses can be awarded 1 point. If for example there were 3 leaders and 3 pace horses then only the 3 leaders would be awarded 1 point each. If for example there were 0 leaders, 0 pace and 6 off pace horses then no horses would be awarded points. A -1 is awarded to all backmarkers, Maps can be found on the Wolfden App by going to each individual race under the betting section. 3. Day Since Last Run - 1 point is awarded to horses that have raced within 7 days or less. This can be found in any form guide. 4. Weight - 1 point is awarded to horses carrying 53.5kg or less (include apprentice claim). Weight and claim can be found in any form guide. 5. Barrier -1 point is awarded to barrier 1 and also the outside 2 barriers in fields of 8 or more. Barrier positions can be found in any form guide. 6. Last Start Comments - 1 point awarded to horses who have a last start excuse/no luck. eg. wide with no cover, held up, bias against, missed start etc. Comments can be found by going to the Racing and Sports enhanced form guide. Racenet also provides free detailed video comments. 7. Market Price - 1 point is awarded to horses that are $7.50 or less on the Wolfden app. 8. Track Bias on Day - 1 point is awarded to horses that are advantaged by track bias and a -2 is deducted for all horses that are disadvantaged by the bias. Track bias on the night will be discussed and re-evaluated after every race. Bet Selection Horses are selected from the highest number of points to 3 points until 66% of the betting market has been reached. If for example 2 horses on 5 points were both $2.50 then that = 80% of the market = a no bet race. If for example horse 1 was 5 points and $2.50 and horse 2 was 4 points and $2.50 then only horse 1 would be a bet. Betting Plan 4 points or more - bet to win $20k with a max bet of 10k if market signals indicate the horse is fancied 4 points or more - bet to win $10k with a max bet of $5k if market signals indicate the horse is unfancied 3 points - bet to win $10k with a max bet of $5k if market signals indicate the horse is fancied 3 points - bet to win $5k with a max bet of $2500 if market signals indicate the horse is unfancied

Thinking of warm spring Northwoods days and counting wolf pups on this wintry Monday morning in Voyageurs where it is -22 F outside but feels like -39 F with the wind. This Paradise Den, located under the roots of an ancient cedar, is undoubtedly one of the coolest dens we have visited so far! Would be really interesting to know how long wolves have used this old tree as a den! Regardless, we feel very fortunate to have trail cameras to document the happenings at this den when we are not there. Before the advent of trail camera technology and GPS-collars, observing/documenting scenes such as this in forested places like northern Minnesota were extremely difficult. Luckily, things have changed a bit. And on this winter day, we look forward to spring and documenting, studying, and sharing with everyone the pups of the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem! WolfDen University Hong Kong International Selection Method Guide: 1. Jockeys – we will be looking at the top 6 jockeys at the meeting, based on data provided by RacingandSports.com.au. 2. Speed Maps - Horses that “map well. We’re looking for horses who aren’t on the rail and can get moving. 3. Can bet on horses that are first up if they have had a positive trial, if they have not had a positive trial, or there is no trial information available, they will not be a selection. 4. Video replays – We will be using video replays to check for unlucky runs that aren’t a true reflection of a horses ability, we will be using RacingandSports to access these videos. 5. Late Market support – We will be monitoring both the official tote pools, as well as the fixed odds operators in Australia to monitor any major movements that we can use to capitalise on. 6. Track bias – As the racing progresses throughout the day we will be monitoring any track bias that becomes evident race to race, and making changes if we deem them to be necessary. 7. Ratings - Must have a best of last three rating (using RacingandSports) that’s within 4 points of the top-rated horse. 8. Horse has upside – Looking at horses that have positive fitness patterns in their form, have been targeted for the race, or are lightly raced and are coming in without being overworked. 9. HK horses favoured 1600m or less – If the race is 1600m or less we will give priority to Hong Kong based horses for this race distance. 9 Cont. International horses favoured 1601m plus – If the horse is an international, they will get a bonus for races over 1601m. 10. Pen HK horses over 2400 v internationals – If the race is over 2400m, international horses will be given a bonus while Hong Kong based horses will be given a penalty.
