On May 26th, nine people were taken to hospital following an alarming incident onboard an Asiana Airlines Airbus A321. Our feed is always around 20 seconds out after we hit the ‘go live’ button (quite a bit more complexed than that). But as we started the feed, this A321neo from Aberdeen was on approach so we went for it. But the feed went ‘live’ to the viewers as the jet was climbing-out. So here it is! A full-on Touch and go, with a tail strike - checkout the paint dust after contact! You can also see the empennage shaking as it drags. I thought the pilot had it, but the wind was swirling over the Office buildings on the Bath Road. And there’s a gap between the open reach building and the next set of office buildings, which allows the gusts to flow unrestricted across the runway. In my view, the pilot deserves a medal! 🤍BritishAirways training could use this in a scenario - happy to supply the footage FOC chaps 😉 but seriously, well done that Pilot. I have to say, I had no chance to watch it back during the live, but Gilly had a quick look and called Tail Strike. I knew it was close, but due to the small monitor and being ‘in the moment’ I missed the tail drag. So good spot GP. This has to go down as one of our best moments, just a shame we were 20 seconds late. Two EVA Air jets were involved in an incident at Taipei on April 16th. The right winglet of an Airbus A321 that was being towed across the apron hit the nose of a parked Boeing 777 widebody. Welcome on board the flight deck of this Airbus A321 for a beautiful landing on a very bright sunny morning! Christine is the pilot in command today, landing, without sunglasses, like a super hero, on Runway 12, Tel Aviv - Natbag Airport. Watch the full landing, from gear down at around 200ft above ground level, all the way to the threshold of the runway with the Airbus GPWS callouts announcing each stage of the final descent. The weather during today's landing is perfectly clear but the low morning Tel Aviv winter sunshine causes a huge amount of glare into the A321 cockpit. Despite her perfect efforts in hand flying the Airbus to touchdown, Christine almost forgets to engage the reverse thrust with the automated Airbus voice announcing for her to retard the thrust levers and the Captain to advise her of the mistake. Being the true professional, she instantly recognises her mistake and immediately re-engages reverse thrust to bring the aircraft to 80 knots, with continued deceleration to a safe speed for vacating the runway and taxiing to stand at Natbag.
